Question: Atheists and christians, what do you think of texas textbooks being run by a creationist?

That would be trying to influence children without parents consent who are of different religious belief.

I think nothing of it. I see great flaws in the theory of the origin of species by means of evolution through natural selection, though I do accept certain tenants of micro-evolutionary theory. I think that there should be a balance to what is taught, such that the children can make an informed decision about what they believe, having heard both ideas. It wasn't too long ago that the scientists "knew " the world was flat and the center of the universe, and that you were a fool if you thought otherwise. 500 years from now, I wonder what the scientists of today will "know " that will be proven wrong.

@William, It wasn't the scientists who thought the world was flat. It was the church. The people who actually figured out that the world was flat (who were probability the scientists) got executed because they were either thought to be witches or possessed because they disagreed with a passage in the bible. (Something about Jesus looking at the whole world from a mountain or smth, hey, I'm not christian). And even if Darwin's teory have a few flaws in it, it doesn't mean that we should look at the Bible which was written by people without any evidence of anything they described there. (I was talking about the creation of the world and stuff, not the New Testament.) And about Texas being educated by Creationists.... Thats just wrong. If the government allows it everyone would get a better idea of how well-educated american people are.
