I just accepted a job in the U.S. Virgin Islands a month ago. Since I started, it's like I'm in a war zone.
It's amazing to see how 2 girls hate me in the job for no apparent reason. I'm in good shape and have pretty big behind, they talk about how big my ass is unlike them, I'm always dress professionally, they talk about that I work until the last minute of time, they I'm trying to make them look bad I take a break which I'm entitled to, they go to the manager and say that I'm not doing my job and I don't clock out. Today I heard them saying there is no way that a little Haitian girl can come and get a better pay than them... The manager have begged me to take that job because there was a great need for someone who speaks Creole, French, and English. Not only I speak 4 languages, I'm in school persuing a degree in Finance they don't have any degree at all. I like my job, but I'm being persecuted by black folks like me, because I'm Haitian. They attack me verbally every day, The manager had a talk with them but they don't stop. How would you deal with a situation like this?

I live in the US virgin Islands. It's beautiful here. People come here everyday on cruise ships, vacation and some decide to stay down here because it's owned buy the US, it's called paradise and look like it too, the water is BEAUTIFUL. But there have been crimes going on here. Lot of it. Last year or earlier this year a caucasian guy got stabbed in St John, another small islands part of the US Virgin Islands. The police did a crappy job and almost let the killers go free, but the victim's family and some other residents here didn't let that happen. Just Sunday again, another caucasian guy offered two black dudes a ride just to get robbed a killed execution style. I'm black, but I'm also very open minded and always speak up about the racial double standard existing in the society. I start believing that maybe they are targeting White people here. It would be bad because tourism is a big part of the economy in the islands. In the USVI, a lot of " natives" don't like " outsiders" like they call them, even if you're black. I'm from another French island and have been a victim of discrimination here but Caucasians have been victim of murder. Way different than what I get. I can't talk about that with any of them here because they are narrow minded. Am I blowing things out of proportion? Could I be right? Blacks guys get shot here too almost on a daily basis. But they are not innocent either if you know what I mean. It's always a thug or one of those guys.

When we say the pledge we have our American flag and our VI flag. We speak broken English and some of us have accents but if you met me you'd think I was a state sider the way I talk unless I'm around friends and family. But I guess I can say I'm proud to be an American and a West Indian.
